CHANDIGARH: The prospectus is out and admissions will start from July 10. The last date for submission of forms is July 5 and counselling for MSc will start from July 16. Government Home Science College, Sector 10 was founded in 1961. One of the pioneer institutes of home science in the country, it started with a three-year degree course in BSc, home science and has now expanded its horizons, offering undergraduate programmes in BSc and Home Science.
The institute has has two hostels, which can accommodate up to 650 students. The college provides Wi-fi facility in all departments and has a number of well-equipped hi-tech labs. There’s a library with more than 70,000 books. It also provides facilities for indoor and outdoor games along with the gymnasium facility in the campus.
The principal said, “Government Home Science College, Chandigarh has completed 50 glorious years of its existence. The college has always endeavored to reach greater heights. A well developed curriculum caters to present day social and industrial needs. There is a lot of stress on extracurricular activities like music, dance, creative expressions and extension activities. This makes my college unique in that there is emphasis on holistic development of students, to make them good homemakers, successful entrepreneurs, leaders and achievers in whatever sphere they choose to enter.”
